Alameda 16 vs California School for the Deaf 12 : October 21, 2010
The Hornets recorded their first home win against a scrappy CSD team. The
matchup gave CSD a 6 point edge into the second quarter until Alameda scored and
closed the half even 6 to 6.
The stalemate continued into the fourth quarter when the Hornets forced a
safety after a bad CSD punt snap edging ahead 8 to 6. The two
point edge was intact until CSD scored off an Alameda turnover. CSD took the
lead 8 to 12.
Alameda got the ball back, trailing by 4, less than five minutes in the game,
and poor field position. The Alameda offense delivered two huge first downs to
get into the red zone with less than two minutes on the clock. Then, on second
down, with time running out, the offense scored off a grinding eighteen yard
run. The special teams added another 2 points to regain the lead 16 to 12.
With fifty seven seconds left in the game the defense broke up the CSD
passing game, forcing a turnover on downs, giving Alameda the ball to run the
clock out.
Final score Alameda 16 CSD 12.
